Having your finger on the pulse of your community is a great way to find new clients and help your buyers get plugged into their new neighborhood, meet their neighbors, and save time and money. Luckily, there are tools to help you and your clients do just that.

Facebook Groups

More and more neighborhoods are creating social groups so they can connect with their neighbors, plan events, and communicate important area information. Some of these may be private, meaning you have to be invited or approved to join, but others are open to all. Either way, find out which neighborhoods in your area have a social page and encourage your buyers to join once they buy their home. If they end up in a neighborhood that doesn't have a page yet, either start one yourself and run it as admin (a great way to capture leads down the road) or encourage your buyers to start one themselves.

Tool Sharing

Being a homeowner opens up a whole new world of DIY possibilities. Need to create a custom bookshelf to fit a nook? Deck need some repairs? Shower drain clogged? With the right know-how and tools, your clients can turn it into a DIY project. However, tools can be pricey and chances are good that one of your neighbors already has the tool you need to get the job done. Research tool-sharing apps and websites like Localtools.org and Peerby to figure out which ones are popular in your area, then pass that knowledge onto your clients.

Nextdoor

This socially driven platform is a private social network created specifically for neighborhoods. You have to prove you live in the neighborhood to join the conversation, but once you do, it can be very beneficial. Your clients can use this for everything from finding lost pets to planning a community garden to recommending a real estate agent!

With all these ways to connect, it should be easy for your buyers to make friends in their new community. But sometimes it can still be hard. Check out this infographic to learn how Americans tend to view their neighbors as well as how important it is to have (and be) a great neighbor!
