Friday Freebie: Set (and Keep!) Your 2018 Goals with this Workbook

January 05 2018

compass pathAre the goals you've set for your real estate business this year really goals—or are they just wishes?

Here's how you can tell. If you say, "I want to make $10,000 more in commissions this year," and leave it at that—well, friend, you're just a wishful thinker. If, however, you say, "I want to make $10,000 more in commissions this year—and here are the specific steps I'm going to take to do that," then you're a bonafide goal setter.

But here's the thing—it's easy to think of what you want to accomplish, but much harder to devise a plan for how to accomplish those things. If formulating the specifics of your strategic plan for this year is overwhelming, never fear! In this week's Friday Freebie, we're highlighting a downloadable workbook that leads you through the most challenging aspects of setting goals.

Free "Setting Strategic Goals" Workbook, courtesy of eMerge and Valerie Garcia

eMerge and real estate speaker Valerie Garcia have teamed up for a three-part series of webinars on business planning, marketing, and converting leads. In December, they hosted the first event, "Secrets to Business Planning," and shared a free workbook that you can download and fill out to better plan your business strategy in the year ahead.

This workbook recognizes that planning can be overwhelming for many agents, so it breaks down the process into small, manageable exercises. For example, the books starts by simply asking you to write down what success looks like to you and what successes you had last year.

Once that gets you warmed up, the workbook asks you to list your income producing activities from 2017, last year's sales statistics and your expenses. Writing down what you did last year makes it easier to analyze your strengths and weaknesses and formulate a plan for this year.

Next, you'll start mapping out your goals and what you need to hit them, including:

  • How many transactions you need to close
  • How many prospect conversations you need to have
  • Things you need to start doing, stop doing, and continue
  • Specific actions you need to take daily, monthly, weekly, and quarterly
  • Monthly marketing focus

To make sure you stay on track throughout the year, this workbook also includes a monthly check-up worksheet where you can list how many transactions and prospect conversations you've had during that month.

Ready to get started? You can download this workbook here... and while you're there, watch the accompanying webinar and register for the next two events in this free series. "Getting Creative with Content" is next up—sign up today to learn all about creating winning marketing content!
