Social Media Tips for 2015: Be Everywhere They’re Looking

December 17 2014

HDC everywhere theyre lookingHow are you using social media to help grow your business? The fast paced world of social media is always changing and it can make creating a successful social strategy somewhat difficult at times. Whether it's being able to create the type of content that provides value to your audience or understanding the best ways to manage paid advertisements, it's never been more important to be in the know when it comes to the current best practices of today's most popular social networks.

Consumers have accounts with a number of different social networking sites. Because of this, it's important to be everywhere they're looking. According to a recent survey, 80 percent of Millennials ranked Facebook as their top social networking site of choice. This was followed by Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram at 44 percent, and Google+ at 31 percent. Since Millennial attention is spread over multiple sites, it's key to complete profiles on all social platforms. Once you've created an account, you can begin to set goals for each of your sites.

While social networking is important, consumers also spend time looking through review sites such as Yelp!, Google Places, or Angie's List. Creating accounts with these sites allows potential clients to search for you and get a feel for the business experience you provide. Once you've created your profiles, remember to ask past and current clients to write reviews. Don't panic if you receive a poor review. If it happens, respond to the comment, and use it as an opportunity to improve your business.

Finally, join online communities and groups. Doing so puts you in a position to be found by consumers near your location or with similar interests. Many of these groups can be found through Facebook or Google+, and will link directly to your profile. Interacting with consumers through these groups will also help to humanize your brand, making it easier to connect with potential clients.

While it's important to be on multiple social media and review sites, it can be challenging to maintain each of them. Get more tips like this by downloading the Social Media Checklist 2015: 7 Steps to Generate More Business.
