6 Reasons You Want an iPad 2

March 28 2011

ipad2 200pxAfter seeing the beautiful iPad 2, my iPad appears sadly ordinary. It’s hard to think how advanced the original tablet, sitting off to the side of my desk, used to look.

The original iPad now appears fatter, heavier and incredibly lacking, without a tiny camera on the front.

6 Reasons I want to trade my iPad in for an iPad 2:

1. It comes in white!

First and most obviously, the iPad 2 will be available in white, made available March 11, along with the black iPad 2. Now, I don’t know about your computer color preferences, but I’d love for my white MacBook, white Magic Mouse and the white keys on my wireless keyboard to all match. I mean, if nothing more, for consistency's sake.

2. It’s twice as fast.

This new iPad has a Dual-core A5 chip, which doesn’t mean anything to most people, but it should mean that it’s twice as fast as the original iPad. Where will this speed make a difference? Well, imagine surfing the Web and multitasking with this faster tablet. The speed should only lead to increased productivity and improved gaming. (Just in case you can’t keep up with your Zombie Farm fast enough with the original iPad.)

Realtors®, with the iPad, you have access to properties through your website, all listing photographs, virtual tours, or targeted properties with your clients before making the trip to show the property. And now, with the iPad 2, you can surf the Web and show home buyers houses at twice the speed.

3. Because one camera wasn’t good enough; the iPad 2 has two cameras.

As a current iPad user, I was expecting a front-facing camera, necessary for video chat and pictures. But the iPad 2 has more than just one camera. These two tiny cameras are a pretty big deal. They come with Apple’s FaceTime for iPad, so that Apple devices can video chat between one another – a very cool feature. But why do we need two cameras? The front camera puts you face-to-face with your friends for video chatting. The back camera is to share where you are, who you’re with or what’s going on around you, either on video chat or to shoot some HD video.

The back-facing camera is perfect for real estate agents. Agents can now bring their iPad and shoot HD video of a home for their virtual tours or to immediately email to buyers.

iPad2 Smart Cover

4. The Icing on the Cake: The Smart Cover for the iPad 2.

If you had the original iPad case, you know what a big a deal this new case is for users. Apple designed the iPad Smart Cover to work side-by-side with iPad. The cover will attach magnetically and should fall perfectly into place, protecting the screen without adding any bulk, like the original cases did. Another great feature is that when you open the Smart Cover, it wakes your iPad up instantly.

5. You can print everything wirelessly.

You can print your email, photos, real estate properties and documents right from your iPad over Wi-Fi. There’s no software to download, no drivers to install and no cables to connect. This is perfect for real estate agents wanting to print out home listings for their clients to bring home. When giving a presentation to a potential buyer, the ease of wireless printing is a great perk of the iPad.

6. The same 10 hour battery life that we loved in the original iPad.
