Four Easy Ways to Network on Social Media From Your Smartphone

May 30 2014

This post comes to us from the HomeFinder.com blog:

Network smartphoneIn between showings, open houses and inspections, it's not always feasible to sit down at your computer to update your social media networks. Below are four tips to quickly and efficiently manage your social media while you are on the go.

1.) Download the right apps.

Give yourself easy access to the social media networks you use for your business by downloading the apps to your smartphone. Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Google+ apps are all available on iPhones, Androids, and Windows phones. Create an apps folder on your phone to keep them in one organized, easy to access location. Remember to build a strong presence on only a few social networks, instead of trying to make an limited appearance on every network.

2.) Pay attention to notifications.

Set up your phone to receive notifications (often called "push notifications") from the social media accounts associated with your business (for example, "@mentions" on Twitter and comments on Facebook). This will help you respond to everyone promptly, and cut down on the number of times you need to proactively check your accounts.

3.) Set up Google Alerts.

Google Alerts will help you stay up to date on relevant industry and local news. Set up different alerts for your city, company, listings, and even surrounding towns, competitors, and your go-to industry media outlets. These alerts will provide great content to share on social media to establish yourself as an industry expert, and will help you jump into any relevant conversations.

4.) Photo Updates

Are you at a beautiful location, unique home, or a special showing? Take a photo! Use photo enhancing apps like Instagram, VSCO Cam (for iPhone) or Photo Editor (for Android) to create an even more eye-catching image, and share with your networks.

Quick tip: If you like using Instagram to edit your photos, set your phone to Airplane Mode to edit the image, and it will automatically save to your phone without sharing with your followers.
