Proverbs are fun.
The idea of a proverb is to use an oft-repeated phrase, frequently metaphorical, to provide advice or a life lesson. For example, 'the pen is mightier than the sword' implies that words and ideas are more effective and persuasive than force. Proverbs are used around the world and can have their own culturally specific meanings as well as universal implications. They can be informing, entertaining or even inspirational.
