How to Banish "Fluff" from Your Real Estate Marketing

April 02 2014

email hand goAre you guilty of any of these "keep-in-touch" clichés in your real estate marketing?

  • Refrigerator magnets
  • Recipes of the week
  • Articles like "How to Pack" and "Improve Your Curb Appeal"

"What's wrong with these?" You may wonder. Plenty. Magnets fall of the fridge, recipes are thrown out and, most egregiously, your clients are just plain bored.

Most agents know that they need to keep in touch with past clients, but few know how to offer their database content that truly engages. And when your contacts are not engaged, they become part of the 77% of clients who don't hire the same Realtor again.

Happily, staying top-of-mind with your database as not as difficult as it seems. Here's an age-old trick that professional writers use before creating any content: Know your audience. Who is your audience? Homeowners, obviously, but the vast majority of those are not in the process of moving! This is the reason those "How to Pack" and "Curb appeal" articles fall flat.

Instead, leverage your content to become a homeowner's advocate and offer information that's useful to your contacts now. This can include topics like taxes, home improvements, renovations, repairs, home insurance, energy conservation, how-to videos, ask the expert, recalls, community living, etc.

There are plenty of other ways to engage your clients, too--and we want to show you how! That's why we've teamed up with HomeActions to offer our readers a FREE webinar on Wednesday, April 9. Top agents and brokers from around the country will be sharing their secrets to successfully staying in touch with clients. You'll also learn how to generate more leads, build and insulate your pipeline with a simple email every two weeks.
