January To-Do List for Real Estate Agents

January 05 2015

p2 JanuaryToDoList 01 02 blogHappy New Year, agents! We wish you all a very prosperous 2015.

To help you get started on the right foot, we've created this easy, week-by-week to-do list for the month of January. These weekly tasks will clear out last year's clutter and position you to close more sales than ever before.

Email Overhaul

If you do just one thing this week, sit down with a cup of coffee and clean out your inbox. Start out next week with a freshly uncluttered email account. Check out our best inbox management tips.

Week 2 (Jan 4-10): Power Through Paperwork

It's time to tackle any paperwork you've been putting off! Now is a great time to do it, since it's still relatively quiet. File, shred, scan and save documents accordingly until your desk, kitchen table and trunk are clear. Here are two things to consider as you go:

  • Is it time for you to go paperless? While completely eliminating the white stuff might be out of the question, here are some easy ways to cut down.
  • Is it time for you to touch base with clients? Now is the perfect time to mail copies of important closing documents for tax purposes or send letters offering free mortgage or staging consultations.

Week 3 (Jan 11-17): First Quarter Marketing Calendar

What kind of marketing events do you have lined up? Instead of flying by the seat of your pants, spend a few hours planning out the next few months. Super Bowl parties, Valentine's Day pop-by gifts, spring food drives, community events... there are so many opportunities to expand your sphere of influence. Be sure to pencil in or set digital reminders to share your marketing activities on your social media accounts!

Week 4 (Jan 18-24): Online Updates

Take some time this week to give your online marketing channels a timely makeover. Review the following content on your agent website, blog, affiliate sites, Facebook page and wherever else your real estate business appears online:

  • Is all of your contact information up to date?
  • Are you using the same headshot across all online materials?
  • Do all of your links work?
  • Is there any reference to 2014 that should be replaced with 2015?

Week 5 (Jan 25-31): Lead Generation Planning

Now that all your ducks are in a row, it's time to commit to a lead-generating plan with actions you can take monthly/weekly/daily. The process will differ for every agent, but it is good to set a goal number of calls, emails and face-to-face meetings to work toward. Don't forget to include connecting with potential referral partners as part of your strategy!

What is at the very top of your to-do list this month?
