An Overview of Facebook’s Newsfeed Update

March 11 2013

lwolf fb newsfeedLast week, Facebook held a press conference at their famed headquarters in Menlo Park announcing the changes that are being made to the newsfeed in the coming weeks. The common theme amongst all of the representatives, including Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, was simplicity. The new 'mobile inspired UI' will bring a common feel to the Facebook newsfeed regardless of the size of your viewport, achieving a consistent feel on mobile devices, tablets, and PCs.

A major piece of the new design is the customization. Your newsfeed will become a 'personalized newspaper' where you can drill into any topic you wish. It will be visually rich and engaging so you can stay up to date on the friends and businesses you follow.

Some of the notable changes to the structure include:

  • Larger photos in the newsfeed
  • Album facelift
  • Attachments and articles with larger images, prominent titles, longer descriptions and publisher logos
